As the only program of its kind in western Canada , the Wilson School of Design's Fashion Design & Technology program prepares students for careers in the global apparel economy in fashion design, production, marketing and computer technology. This dynamic program features integrated, industry-based education and training using leading-edge technology; class projects facilitated by prominent apparel companies such as lululemon athletica; and an extensive practicum that results in employment.
Students in the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Technical Apparel Design program will pursue advanced studies in new methodologies in technical textiles, human factors in design contexts, production, and global business strategies. Developed through extensive collaboration with KPU alumni, Vancouver-based companies such as Arc'teryx, Lululemon, Kit & Ace, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Mustang Survival, Global Collective and Sugoi, along with local and international researchers and academics, the program connects research, education, and business to support, inspire, and create innovative approaches to apparel design.
The Fashion Marketing diploma program combines fashion and business knowledge with skills relevant to dynamic careers in fashion market research, trend forecasting, styling, visual merchandising, fashion writing, promotion, buying, sales and management at the wholesale and retail levels. Hands-on activities, work experiences, participation in fashion events, and excursions to fashion companies in select fashion districts serve as portable classrooms and opportunities to create a broad network.
