Webinar: Member Update on Apparel and Textile Provisions of the CPTPP

On December 30th, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) will enter into force.

Australia, Japan, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, Vietnam and Singapore have ratified the deal, allowing for it to be implemented. Four other countries (Peru, Chile, Malaysia and Brunei) are in the process of ratification.

Join the Canadian Apparel Federation for an overview of this important trade agreement.

The webinar will cover:

I. The status of the agreement, the ratification process and implementation

II. A summary of the textile/apparel provisions, including:

  • Rules of origin
  • Tariff elimination - what is the timeframe and what are the key differences between Canada and other countries.
  • Textile and apparel short supply list, and related provisions
  • Customs provisions
  • A brief comparison to other trade agreements and tariff preference programs (other FTA’s, LDC program etc.)
  • What’s next?
