Job Description / Duties

Role: Senior Director, Quality Management (NOC 0016)
Salary: $200,000 – $275,000/year and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance) + may be eligible for bonuses and salary increases, if applicable
Position: 45 hours/week, Full-time, Permanent
Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)

The Senior Director, Quality Management reports to the VP of QM & Technical Development, and works closely with other Product Division personnel, including Sourcing, Production, Technical Development, Design, and Inventory Control.

The Senior Director, Quality Management oversees the Colour Lab, Testing & Compliance and Vendor Quality audits for Aritzia apparel.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Director, Quality Management will include the following:

Assess, define & direct the following requirements, processes & teams in order to maximize sales & minimize returns:

• Technical Colour Approvals –
o Oversight of colour standards, lab dips, and bulk and how it relates into the big picture of Aritzia manufacturing
o Develop and share meaningful metrics and action plans to our internal teams and mill / vendor base for improvement

• Product Testing & Compliance –
o Lead the development and continued oversight of comprehensive raw material and product performance and testing specifications, integrate into development process, and communicate to internal and external business partners.
o Approval of all labeling/ticketing format, text and symbols to insure compliance to necessary international standards.
o Oversight of outside testing service providers, including service level expectations, count management communication, requests for testing, and storage of testing information.
o Oversight of product care and wear ability testing, including determining the effectiveness of internal testing programs and recommending corrective action where needed.
o Oversight of quality related educational training and materials to product & retail teams
o Research, interpret, and effectively communicate government regulations in a timely manner to internal and external business partners as pertains to product safety standards and restricted substance compliance.
o Develop and share meaningful metrics and action plans to our internal teams, mill and vendor base & 3rd party testing facilities for improvement

• Vendor Audits-
o Owns Aritzia product inspection strategy
o Defines Aritzia product quality levels internally and to our vendor base
o Owns fold & pack guidelines that protect product quality
o Owns communication & resolution of high dollar / visibility quality issues
o Develop and share meaningful metrics and action plans to our internal teams and vendor base for improvement

TEAM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT

• Manage and lead a Quality Management team to facilitate department objectives and individual career goals
• Lead by example using the “How We Work” methodologies across the department
• Mentor and evaluate staff in order to build an ‘A’ team
• Provide training to cross functional Product teams to deepen awareness of quality issues and how to effectively identify & resolve.

The job will evolve and additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The Senior Director, Quality Management will possess the following qualifications:

• Degree or Diploma in Garment Technology or a related program
• 8+ years of quality management experience
• Prior experience leading a quality management team
• Held a senior technical or quality management role in garment manufacturing
• Experience working for a fashion apparel retailer
• Experience managing a quality management budget
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with different departmental teams
• Proven leadership abilities and excellent communication & presentation skills – both written and verbal
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Prior experience travelling to distribution centers, stores, testing facilities, trade shows, and overseas mills / vendors
