Job Description / Duties

What you’ll be doing

Providing leadership and direction to the Technical Developers (TDs), Pattern Makers and Sample Sewers to enable them to deliver great product
Managing and coordinating the work flow of the product development process.
Creating and maintaining the seasonal product development project list (PDP list) for apparel and hardgoods
Working with the Sourcing Team, TD’s and designers to ensure products are delivered at the briefed cost target through the consideration of the cost implications embedded in the product designs
Ensuring the processes and functions of the TD’s and Pattern Team remains relevant as the team and objectives evolve
Keeping all cross-functional team members engaged, aligned and informed
Scheduling and running the Bi-weekly PDP meetings
Managing the workflow of the pattern team and sewing team
Overseeing all fit sessions to ensure the fit intention is adhered to and there is consistency across product lines
Actively participating in implementing the HIGG Index throughout the product development teams at MEC

Qualifications / Required Skills

What you need to do it well

Post-secondary education in Apparel or Industrial Design
5-7 years’ experience managing a product development team
Demonstrated leadership skills
Proven ability to manage, coach and develop others
Development expertise within, or related to, outdoor apparel and product.
Exceptional passion and knowledge for outdoor equipment and the related activities
Strong technical fabric and garment construction knowledge
Strong project management, problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills – proven success in the ability to develop a credible, trusting rapport with individuals as well as small and large groups of people is a must have
Entrepreneurial spirit and an ego-less nature
