Category: DesignDuties & Responsibilities:
o New Product Design and Development
•Create ECN/ECR documents for product change on existing or new products offerings
•Acquire new part numbers for designers and verify part numbers on BOMS for engineering changes
•Analyzes and interprets engineering requirements for the optimal fitting and assembly of new Personal Protective systems products
•Actively participates in team peer design reviews and document change board reviews
• Assists as required in the investigation of design concepts and solutions for new products
•Designs and fabricates mock-ups, prototypes and finished assemblies
•Collaborates with designers and engineers in other groups on related development projects
•Creates engineering documents, bill of materials, material specifications, Soft Goods functional specifications, patterns, markers
•Assists in the creation of engineering documents, Bill of Materials, Bill of Labor, MAPs, material specifications, patterns, markers
•Compile design and feature usability notes from design engineers to generate text and graphic components (illustrations, digital photos) for design product specifications
•Produces, reviews and releases production packages and related technical documentation for production
•Interfaces with internal and external manufacturing engineering groups and contractors during advanced prototype builds to transfer technology of new products to production
o Testing and Validation
•Conducts or participates in testing and validation of soft goods products and prototypes with the Design Engineering and Human Factors Engineering teams
•Assists in the verification of production work and initiation of changes as required
o Support and sustaining for Soft Goods legacy products
•Initiates and implements ECR/ECN processes on existing or new products offerings
•Leads root cause analysis and provides solutions for corrective actions
•Ensures creation and approval of temporary Deviations
o Continuous Improvement initiatives and COGS reduction
• Participates in investigating and implementing product and process cost reduction efforts.
• Reviews manufacturing processes and recommends alternative methods and systems for Quality, process improvement and cost reduction
• Reviews existing product designs and recommends design/documentation enhancements
•Conducts research into new technologies, suppliers and processes and makes recommendations for product Design for Manufacturability and industry best practices
Hiring Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Garment/Textile Design/Engineering
• 6+ years experience in Design/Engineering in Clothing Industry
• 2+ years experience in Design/Engineering in Personal Protective Systems and Military Equipment
• Experience in Soft Goods Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience working with Lectra Systems software (Modaris, Diamino, Mikalis, JustPrint)
• Proficiency in soft goods production processes and technology
• Strong ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English, including the ability to describe information, concepts and ideas and to convey instructions to others
• Ability to independently manage, organize, and complete work activities in order to meet or exceed established deadlines/priorities
•Work is performed in a mixed office/prototyping environment
•Limited travel may be required to other facilities, subcontractors or suppliers
