Job Description / Duties

Our Toronto-based client is seeking a highly entrepreneurial, outgoing, & seasoned executive in the ladieswear industry to be their new VP of Operations. This person will preferably have connections in the US with major retailers and sales agents, and have extensive experience in importing & distribution of apparel. The goal is for the person in this position to transition to President within three years.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- In conjunction with the sales manager, expand business & accounts in Canada & US
- Supervise sales manager & sales team, hire new reps in US
- Daily communication with broker & freight forwarder to coordinate shipments from suppliers, ensure all suppliers submit correct commercial invoices for inventory and release
- Daily email communications with suppliers regarding samples, production, prices, fabrics, problem solving, & payments
- Arrange foreign exchange (USD to buy product), decide when and if to buy future contracts, send payments to suppliers, keep track of deposits & payments
- Oversee warehouse operations
- Communicate with sales team about product & customer issues
- Supervise movement of samples & inventory to US sales reps & customers
- Meet with sales manager to discuss and plan travel schedule to Ontario markets, tradeshows, & target customers
- Oversee organization of trade shows & attend Toronto Profile show
- Oversee customer service department
- Review each suppliers samples styles and price each season’s styles to ensure maximum profit margins, enter style data in Fashion Master
- Run reports as required (customer call sheets, allocation reports, price lists, etc.)
- Organize & run end of season sample sales
- Submit monthly A/R and seasonal customer credit requests to Accord, establish customer payments terms, liaison with Accord re customer A/R issues.
- Work with bookkeeper on all financial issues
- Various other tasks & office functions

Qualifications / Required Skills

- 10+ years senior-level experience in ladieswear
- strong connections in US with independent & major retailers and sales teams highly preferred
- background in importing & distribution
- outgoing and committed to growing & expanding the business
- entrepreneurial attitude
- great computer skills & knowledge of social media
