Our Internationally known niche apparel client based in Calgary, Alberta is in need of a National Sales Director. This role will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for successfully implementing sales initiatives, achieving revenue goals, and effectively managing, training and coaching the sales team.
Develop competencies and processes required to build and maintain a high performance sales organization.
Manage the national sales team – recruit qualified candidates for all approved open positions; select, train, coach, develop and manage motivated sales representatives across Canada.
Build annual compensation plans for sales team.
Develop annual sales budget and implementation plan.
Provide supervision through field visits, observations and measurement of results to include appraisals and salary reviews.
Ensure sales productivity is constantly measured and increasing due to effective sales activity management and skill development.
Regularly monitor financial performance of sales and make proactive decisions to help drive additional revenues or meet revenue gaps.
Manage to meet / exceed monthly quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and prospective customers across Canada.
Proactively participate in new business opportunities to influence the direction of the sale
Maintain a strong understanding of market trends and drive new business development
Pricing and gross margin responsibility.
While working closely with the US buying team, responsible for monitoring and establishing inventory levels.
Work closely with US product development team, giving guidance and input on Canadian trends and requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or Marketing with 5+ years directly managing a sales team.
Excellent written, oral communication skills.
Necessary computer skills include - Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
Excellent communications, presentation and project management skills.
Proven ability to establish and maintain honest and effective working relationships with individuals from all backgrounds
Self-starter - ability to define objectives, prioritize workload and produce deliverables
Collaborator - ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external partners to define and execute programs and build consensus for best results
Multi-tasker - ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
Strong blend of analytical, decision making and creative problem solving skills
Travel as required, estimated to be 50% to 75%.
