Category: ProductionWe are currently looking for a Textile Manager to join our Design & Merchandising team! Reporting to the Director of Design & Merchandising, the primary objectives of this role will be to manage the fabric procurement and production operations as well as the Textiles Department in development and production operations. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation and problem solving skills in addition to numerous years experience in the textile industry with solid practice in development and production of functional and technical woven and knitted fabrics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the textile teams in all processes, systems and tools needed to endure quality and meet delivery according to our production schedule and seasonal development
• Strategic planning of all textile operations, setup, manpower, development and production processes
• Lead the sourcing and production teams for efficient and effective execution of daily operations both in Toronto and overseas
• Monitor and control all stages of fabric production and scheduling, dye lot approval, fabric inspection, problem solving of all technical aspects and production quality issues
• Liaise with key functional departments on potential problem areas that may arise during production or during product life cycle that will affect quality and delivery
• Liaise with Design department on new season development requirements for fabric sourcing. Extensive sourcing for competitive prices and quality for new and existing resources
• Maintain and upkeep textile testing standards and requirements on textile and on finished products
• Control the production processes with strict quality assurance and quality control system to ensure proper product engineering and delivery quality products as required
• Assure all approved and passed fabrications on our Quality Control testing requirements and production standards are established for ongoing production
• Negotiate and control prices of all nominated fabric and accessories. Generate annual projection and booking, evaluation supplier performance and decision making on selection of final suppliers for bulk production, resourcing and allocation of all orders
• Responsible for all negotiation and settlement of any claims
• Stay abreast of most recent fabric sourcing directions and lead the team priorities for fabric objectives sand fabric sourcing
• Build a strong relationship with our overseas associates and suppliers to improve efficiencies, productivity and quality to meet all Ash City production needs in terms of timely supply of good quality products
• Extensive sourcing of new potential mills and evaluate performance of all current suppliers in the profile
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Textile industry with solid experience in development and production of functional and technical woven and knitted fabrics
• Experience in all phases of fabric development, production and apparel manufacturing
• Proven leadership skills involving managing, developing and motivating teams to achieve their objectives
• Superb interpersonal, relationship building and organizational skills
• Dedicated to maintaining high quality standards
• Excellent reputation with suppliers; recognized as a competent, knowledgeable and helpful professional
• Excellent in written and oral communications skills
• Proficient in MS office and excellent computer skills
