Role: Associate Designer, Colour Design (NOC 5243/53123)
Salary: $30.00 to $37.00/hour and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance) + may be eligible salary increases, if applicable
Hours: 40 hours/week, Full-Time, Permanent
Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)

As a Associate Designer, Colour Design in the Colour Design Department, you will be part of the team responsible for telling the brand story through beautiful colours that our customers will love – and race out to buy. You will lead the validation and accuracy of colour quality by supporting colour trend research, and seasonal colour concepts, and palette development for the collection. D

1. COLLECTION STRATEGY
To establish the seasonal point of view of the collection
a) Silhouette Strategy – Assist the preparation, execution, and documentation of the key silhouettes for the collection
b) Structure Strategy – Assist the preparation, execution, and documentation of the level of structure for the collection
c) Drape Strategy – Assist the preparation, execution, and documentation of the approach to drape for the collection
d) Fit Strategy – Assist the preparation, execution, and documentation of the fit intent for the collection (e.g. oversized v. standard)

2. TREND
To identify upcoming trends
a) Runway – Support the preparation, presentation, and documentation of runway trends
b) Aspirational Marketplace – Support the preparation, presentation, and documentation of aspirational landscape trends
c) Inspirational Marketplace – Support the preparation, presentation, and documentation of inspirational landscape trends
d) Street-style – Support the preparation, presentation, and documentation of street-style trends
e) Influencers – Support the preparation, presentation, and documentation of influencer trends
f) Trend Forecasters – Support the preparation, presentation, and documentation of trend forecaster trends

2. COLLECTION CONCEPT
To curate the seasonal cohesive concept for the collection
a) Theme – Assist the execution and documentation of seasonal theme of the collection
b) Fabric Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of seasonal fabric concept for the collection
c) Colour Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of seasonal colour concept for the collection
d) Textile Design Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of seasonal textile design concept for the collection
e) Sustainability Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of seasonal sustainability concept for the collection

3. STYLE DESIGN
To design the core components of the styles for the collection
a) Style – Assist the execution and documentation of the silhouettes design for each style in the collection
b) Functionality – Assist the execution and documentation of technical features and functionality design for each style in the collection
c) Trim Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of trims and componentry design for each style in the collection
d) Wash Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of washes design for each style in the collection as required

4. STYLE DEVELOPMENT
To ensure that each style executes on the creative design vision
a) Fit Direction – Assist the execution and documentation of fit intent through the development process
b) Construction Direction – Support execution construction through the development process

Qualifications / Required Skills

QUALITIFICATIONS

The Associate Designer, Colour Design will possess the following qualifications:
• Proficiency in Illustrator
• Proficiency in illustration
• Strong research skills. Knowledge of market trends
• Ability to collaborate with all cross functional partners: merchant, tech design, product development, print and color, etc.
• Ability to take direction, multitask and take change in stride
• Detail oriented
• Knowledge of fabrics, color design, patterns
• Experience in:
o Trend Forecasting
o Trend Research
o Trend Analysis
o Consumer Insights
o Concept Design
o Color Matching
o Inspirational moodboards, color palettes, and color stories
