Global Perspectives on fighting modern slavery: How the private sector can take action to reduce supply chain risks
Join the CAF for an insightful webinar on social compliance/forced labour. The webinar will be presented by Matt Friedman of the Mekong Club, a non-profit that uses a “business-to-business” approach to fight modern slavery. It will explore how businesses can reduce the risk of forced labour within their supply chains.

On the agenda:

  • A comprehensive summary of global trends and patterns in human trafficking
  • An update on emerging legislation and its impact on the private sector
  • How brands/manufacturers will be affected
  • A detailed update on modern slavery and ESG
  • A description of practical tools and approaches used by corporations throughout the world to help identify and address this potential problem.

It is estimated that over 50 million people across all industries are in modern-day slavery today. The issue of forced labour is of concern to the Canadian business community as modern slavery legislation passed in May 2023 will require larger companies to report on their efforts to address forced labour and child labour in their supply chains as early as May, 2024.

About the speaker:

Matt Friedman is an international human trafficking expert with more than 30 years of experience. He is CEO of the Mekong Club and previously worked for USAID and the United Nations in over 40 countries.
