Job Description / Duties

Role: Technical Designer, Denim (NOC 5243)
Salary: $26.00 - $35.00 /hour and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance) + may be eligible for bonuses and salary increases, if applicable
Hours: 40 hours/week, Permanent
Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)

As a member of the Creative Team you will be part of the team responsible for delivering the clothes our clients will love – and race out to buy. As the Designer, Technical Design, Denim you will translate the Creative Design vision in order to develop the components and specifications of each denim style.

1. DETAIL DEVELOPMENT
To develop all necessary details of the denim style and components of each colour
a) Unlogo'd Trims – Execute sourcing and development of un-logo’d trims for all styles and colours within your scope based on the Creative seasonal vision
b) Secondary Fabrics – Execute sourcing and development of secondary fabrics for all styles and colours within your scope based on the Creative seasonal vision
c) Linings – Execute sourcing and development of linings for all styles and colours within your scope based on the Creative seasonal vision

2. SPECIFICATIONS
To ensure all detailed specifications are expertly captured for each individual denim style/colour on the tech pack
a) Technical Sketch – Interpret and assess the Creative Design style concept to identify all supporting components and develop into a precise technical drawing
b) Bill of Materials – Input the accurate information on the bill of materials for all style/colours within your scope
c) Detail Specifications - Input the accurate specifications for all style details within your scope
d) Trim Specifications - Input the accurate specifications for all trim details within your scope
e) Product Packaging Specifications - Input the accurate specifications for all product packaging within your scope

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The Technical Designer, Denim will possess the following qualifications:

• Completion of a 2-year diploma or higher in Fashion or Textile Design required
• Experience in women’s specific denim design
• Previous experience in Retail Sales and/or Fashion/Design
• Experience working for a fashion apparel retailer
• Comprehensive understanding of the target market’s aesthetic
• Understands and stays current on trends and cultural influences
• Excellent sense of style, knowledge of fashion forecasting and trend analysis, keen eye for global trends, colours, fabrics and details, specifically denim
• Demonstrated technical ability in apparel construction in all types of denim fabrics and trims, fit and patterns, and tailoring
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Proven ability to work effectively with cross functional/departmental partners and teams
• Excellent time management skills, planning and organizational skills, problem solving skills

Salary: $26.00 - $35.00 /hour and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance) + may be eligible for bonuses and salary increases, if applicable
