MOTIF and Alvanon, with the support of other supporting industry organizations including the Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF), are conducting the second global ‘State of Skills’ survey for the apparel and textile industry.

It has been a year of ups and downs for the textile and apparel industry; short term volatility combined with profoundly disrupting new technology, business, and consumer trends, makes it even more crucial to invest in employees. But that’s more easily said than done. How much progress are you truly seeing across the value chain, in your company, your department, your teams, in your business partners to upskill and reskill collaborators? Where are the gaps? What are the most acute training or talent recruitment needs to fulfill in order to propel the industry forward?

The goal of this 10 minute, anonymous online survey is to help inform talent development and business strategies, as well as address specific skills areas to focus on. We are hoping to identify the biggest areas of improvement, as well as the most critical training/recruitment needs among Canadian industry stakeholders.

The results will be published in 2020, and participants may opt to receive their own copy of the survey analysis report. The end goal is to have an accurate snapshot of the Canadian apparel industry as a whole and be able to compare our priorities to the industry globally. This will help CAF build our programming and services for the coming year in order to best address the needs of our members and the industry as a whole.
