Building off the success of our semi-annual Trade Policy Updates, CAF will be presenting a webinar on Product & Regulatory Compliance to update members on policy developments and our advocacy efforts. The session will cover the most pressing issues affecting the apparel sector in 2019, including:

  • Upholstered and Stuffed Articles Update
  • Competition Bureau: possible modernization of the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations
  • Competition Bureau: products containing bamboo
  • Health Canada: regulation of anti-microbial products
  • Health Canada inspections targeting children’s apparel products - recall procedures
  • Health Canada enforcement activities concerning children’s sleepwear
  • Changes to tent flammability regulations
  • Proposed restrictions on flame retardants
  • Federal Government consultations on supply chain legislation
  • Responsible business conduct
  • Issues re. waste/sustainability

We will also discuss recent initiatives by the Canadian government to promote “responsible business conduct.” These include the recent appointment of Canada’s Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) and Bill C-423, a proposal to enforce new reporting requirements re. forced labour and child labour in supply chains.  Some of this was discussed in our previous webinar on trade policy.

Please note: this webinar is available to members of the Canadian Apparel Federation only. Registration for this event is limited; we recommend signing up as soon as possible to guarantee your spot.
