Job Description / Duties

Role: Colour Manager (NOC 2211)
Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 /year and Benefits (Extended Health, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance) + may be eligible for bonuses and salary increases, if applicable
Hours: 45 hours/week, Permanent
Location of work: Aritzia Support Office (#118-611 Alexander St. Vancouver, BC, V6A 1E1)
Number of positions: 1

The Colour Manager reports to the VP, Product – Technical & Quality Management, and works closely with the below partners as it relates to the seasonal color palette development and color approval process activities.

• Internally: Product Division personnel, including Fabric Management, Sourcing, Production, Technical Development, Design, Buying, Merchandising, and Testing/Compliance Department
• Externally: All Supply Chain, including Mills, Suppliers, Vendors

This position will also ensure colour accuracy and continuity in Aritzia’s finished goods, by managing the lab dye process and approval of raw materials submissions from suppliers. Measurement of performance and publishing seasonal metrics is also a key element of this role. The Colour Manager plays a key role in defining and communicating the Aritzia colour management strategy.

The job functions for this role will be based on the below areas of focus:

• Defines and maintains colour standards for fabrics & trims
• Updates and maintains Technical Colour process manual

• Reviews lab dips for color accuracy and feasibility
• Reviews bulk fabric for color accuracy and maintains colour continuity
• Escalates/informs brand team & fabric management regarding lab dip issues
• Ownership of all email communication with supply chain on clarifications or issues disposition regarding colour
• Internal point of contact to aid with any technical colour questions

• Maintains internal colour lab dip and bulk tracking documents
• Runs seasonal reporting

• Sends and updates Supplier Capability Color Survey files

1. New hire onboarding
2. Maintains seasonal approved color books, reference and files all submits
3. Manages colour sample library and update internal database
4. Manages the weekly department meeting agenda
5. Weekly failures reporting

Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The Colour Manager will possess the following qualifications:

• Diploma in Chemical Technology or a related field
• Must pass Munsell 100 hue colour test
• 5+ years’ experience of working with colour – preferably in a textile environment
• Understanding of CIE Colour Space, Delta E, Reflectance Curves
• Experience in color management tools
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Self-driven, methodical and technical work ethic gained in a lab or design studio environment
• Previous experience in Retail Sales and/or Fashion/Design
• Proven ability to work effectively with cross functional/departmental partners and teams
• Excellent time management skills, planning and organizational skills, problem solving skills
