Our workshop series with Ernst & Young LLP wrapped up on a high note last week; over 50 companies attended our final presentation in Montreal on June 13. We held similar events in Toronto and Vancouver, and altogether over 100 companies attended.

The sessions addressed issues highlighted by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) in their Trade Compliance Verifications publication. The high duty rates paid by apparel & textile importers attract significant compliance actions by CBSA. Attendees learned the key issues and enforcement strategies of CBSA, and how to manage compliance risks.

We received valuable feedback from our attendees that indicated interest in future events on similar topics, particularly in Montreal. Based on the questions asked by attendees, CAF is gauging interest for a series of all-day “boot camps” focused on customs compliance issues. This is a perfect opportunity to ask questions and actively engage with the presentation, and would be valuable to employees in finance, warehouse/inventory and traffic departments.

If you would like to be updated on upcoming customs compliance boot camps in your area or would like to provide feedback on topics of interest, please contact Bob Kirke at bkirke@apparel.ca.
