Job Description / Duties

Reporting directly to the VP Product Development, the Raw Materials & Trim Buyer/Developer works with the design team to source, develop and test seasonal fabrics and trims that maintain consistency with overall company brand vision and values. And through the implementation of QC measures, ensure that both ongoing and new fabrications meet required corporate standards.


Objectives:
•Collaborate with PD team to source and develop seasonal fabrics and trims according to seasonal design trends and direction while meeting calendar timelines
•Build, manage and maintain vendor relationships
•Ensure the proper testing of new fabrications while maintaining quality control standards of production yardage.

Responsibilities:
•Organize and run weekly fabric meetings with the PD team while keeping cross-functional teams informed of new developments, timelines, cost and test results
•Source raw materials and trim, order and arrange the delivery of sample materials.
•Negotiate pricing with vendors
•Conduct internal and external testing of new developments. Track and report test outcomes to team.
•Facilitate clear communication between cross functional teams regarding raw materials development
•Communicate regularly with mills and suppliers
•Establish and maintain calendar; track and ensure timely delivery of sampling
•Work with both design and vendors to facilitate the timely development of lab dips and prints
•Catalogue and maintain fabric/trim data and information
•Organize and maintain fabric library
•Create and maintain seasonal fabric boards with swatches and all relevant information

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education and /or experience:
•Fashion/Textile Diploma, minimum requirement
•3-5 years in apparel sourcing and raw material development experience

Competencies:
•Experience building vendor and team relationships through strong interpersonal skills
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
•Able to multi-task in a fast-paced evolving environment
•Strong ability to negotiate
