CAF Wage Subsidy Program for B.C. Employers Extended to April 2019 - Apply Now!

Due to increased demand from businesses looking to hire in the spring, the Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF)’s Wage Subsidy Program for apparel/fashion employers in British Columbia has been extended until April 30th.

This program offers subsidies to employers in Vancouver and the lower mainland in the apparel and textile sectors against the salary of a new hire. The purpose of the program is to provide work experience to qualified young people entering the industry’s workforce.

After a highly successful run in Ontario, CAF received approval to expand the program to British Columbia at the end of 2018. We have successfully placed more than 70 new hires with full-time positions in the industry. More than 40 employers in Ontario have participated in the program to date, and we have been working for some time to expand the program to other provinces.

Along with this extension, we have negotiated additional funding. Employers are now eligible for up to $17 per hour (previously $12.65) against the salary of a new hire 30 years of age or under, for up to 35 hours per week.

Please note that it is important to apply as soon as possible. Funding will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you apply, the more support will be available to you.

This program now applies to a more diverse range of positions. If your company is hiring or has recently hired a new employee, contact us immediately to confirm whether your new employee is eligible for the program.

Once we have received the information about the candidate, confirmation and approval to participate in the program can usually be provided within a day. The application process is extremely simple and there is no catch.

To expedite the application, please contact our program manager, Danielle Kuczer, as soon as possible: or (613) 231-3220 ext. 222.

This project is funded by the Government of Canada's Career Focus program.
