The Store Design Project Manager will be an individual contributor within the Technical Store Design team responsible for delivering functional construction documents all Aritzia banners. The Store Design Project Manager works closely with the internal Creative Team, Construction Project Managers, and other Support Office personnel (including members of the Retail, Product, and Support Divisions) to execute Aritzia’s store design initiatives.
Key responsibilities of the Store Design Project Manager will include the following:
1. Department Management
• Mentoring and coaching a team of Architectural Technologists to ask questions, project, lead and provide design administration through the construction phases including
• Review of submittals and shop drawings
• Work in conjunction with the facilities and build departments to execute small projects such as minor remodels, fixture roll outs and special projects
2. Site Specific Research (Due Diligence)
• Research and provide feedback on how schematic designs can adhere to applicable code requirements
• Research and provide feedback on site specific conditions that will impact design and cost
• Develop design project schedules and deadlines and ensure that all project deliverables meet timeline goals
3. Design Development
• Lead development of all the project drawing documents to ensure accuracy and reflection of the creative design
• Ensure details are thought through to avoid unnecessary expenditure (both build and maintenance)
4. Permitting and Approvals
• Obtain all necessary regulatory approvals including building permit and that all necessary building codes are met
• Work with Leasing and Build to ensure landlord approval of drawings is obtained in a timely manner
5. Construction Documents
• Deliver functional construction documents that reflect the creative concept and communicate the build intent to all internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinate with all internal and external personnel to ensure alignment and cross functional project objectives are met
• Deliver drawings on time
6. Contract Administration
• Review drawing packages to ensure quality is maintained at all stages of the project
• Review and approve all necessary project submittals to ensure design intent is met
• Site visits to sign off on new finishes, provide design guidance during construction, and conduct deficiency walks
Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.
The Store Design Project Manager will possess the following qualifications:
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar role
• University degree or diploma in Interior Design, Industrial Design or
equivalent experience
• Experience with CAD and/or Revit
• Experience within the Retail/Apparel industry is preferred
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with different departmental teams
• Excellent communication & presentation skills – both written and verbal
• Solid proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
