Canadian labelling requirements for textiles and apparel

The Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF) will host a series of seminars on apparel and textile labelling requirements in Canada, at the end of February and beginning of March 2018. The presenters will be from the federal Competition Bureau, the agency responsible for administering and enforcing the Textile Labelling Act and the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations. The schedule for the seminars is as follow:

February 27, 2018 - Toronto

March 1, 2018 - Montreal (bilingual presentation)

March 5, 2018 - Vancouver

The Competition Bureau oversees most labelling and advertising requirements for apparel and textile products sold in Canada. Its mandate covers a wide range of labelling issues, including fibre content labelling, dealer identity (CA numbers) and labelling of down and feather products. In 2009, the Bureau’s Enforcement Guidelines for “Made in Canada” claims was updated. The seminars will cover these and many other topics in detail. We last held a similar series of seminars presented by the Bureau back in 2009, and over 200 companies attended the sessions held in these three cities.
