Wage Subsidies Available to Employers in Ontario

Subsidies can provide up to $11,375.00 in support

The Canadian Apparel Federation is pleased to announce that it will be offering the Career Focus Wage Subsidy Program. Employers in Ontario in the textile and apparel sectors are eligible for a subsidy of $11,375.00 for a six-month period, against the salary of a new hire.

The application process is simple; if an employer has an immediate need for a new employee the turn around time to start the program is usually minimal. The program will run until March 29, 2019.

Based on the success of last year’s program, CAF has received triple the number of wage subsidies this year. These subsidies are currently available to companies in Ontario hiring young Canadians aged 30 years and under for permanent positions. The intent of this program is to secure long-term employment for newly qualified, skilled employees to the sector who are recent post-secondary graduates. The Program allows these new employees to gain valuable work experience, with the expectation and strong likelihood that they will have an opportunity to remain employed with the firm upon completion of the wage subsidy period.

These subsidies can be applied to graduates of fashion programs or eligible positions such as information technology (e-commerce, web), industrial or mechanical engineering, production supervision and management (assistant), quality assurance, design, financial/accounting, or any other relevant field that meets your hiring needs.

CAF members will be given priority and employees must be approved by CAF for the program before they are hired.
