In December 2010, the Canadian Government passed its long-promised Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). The Law is being implemented in June 2011.

Find out about new prohibitions for companies in the consumer product supply chain and the new requirements for record-keeping and mandatory reporting of health and safety “incidents”.

Exporters (especially childrenswear producers) to the US will be familiar with the impact of recent changes in product safety legislation in the US.

Be prepared for new requirements in the domestic market.

Webinar:

  • The new Canada Consumer Product Safety Act - Information on new regulatory requirements for apparel / consumer product suppliers

  • Thursday March 31, 2011, 1:00 - 2:00 Eastern Time

This session will give participants an understanding of the framework of the legislation and explain how it compares to previous product safety legislation, and identify key regulations that are being developed to implement the CCPSA.  Topics include:

  • What constitutes an “incident”?
  • What triggers an obligation to report?
  • What will be done with the information I report?
  • How will penalties be levied?

This is the first of a series of sessions we will be holding in the coming  months concerning the CCPSA – subsequent sessions will focus on product-specific topics related to apparel.
