In December 2010, the federal Government passed its long-promised Consumer Product Safety Act. The Law is being implemented in June 2011.  Find out about the new prohibitions for companies in the consumer product supply chain and the new requirements for record-keeping and the mandatory reporting of health and safety “incidents”.

Exporters to the US will familiar with the impact of recent changes in product safety legislation in the US - be prepared for new requirements in the domestic market.

This session will give participants an understanding of the framework of the legislation and explain how it compares to the previous framework for product safety legislation, and identify key regulations that are being developed to implement the legislation.  Topics , include:

  • What constitutes an “incident”?
  • What triggers an obligation to report?
  • What will be done with the information I report?
  • How will penalties be levied?

This is the first of a series of sessions we will be holding in the coming  months concerning the CCPSA – subsequent sessions will focus on product-specific topics related to apparel.
